Tuition Assistance

TAP Amendments to be implemented for Fall 2022:

a. TAP may apply only to the first degree, or the first 70 credits attempted

b. The following restrictions to be implemented:

  • After a failure, student taking alternate general education courses will be charged.
  • The electives to be taken within course requirements must be clearly stated on the degree audit.

c. Enrichment courses in the College Catalogue are restricted under TAP

d. Eligible students must maintain a GPA of 2.0 to continue to access TAP

e. Only BVIslanders or Belongers can access TAP.

f. Per-college and non-credit courses do not qualify for TAP.

 

 

At the start of the 2006-2007 academic year the Government of the Virgin Islands introduced the BVI tuition Assistance programme providing free tuition to British Virgin Islanders. Students are still responsible for paying fees and book costs. The programme does not cover costs of summer school, nor for repeated courses. Eligibility requirements are as follows:

Applicants must be the holder of tone of the following documents and submit same to the Registry at HLSCC:

  • British Passport issued by the Virgin Islands
  • British Virgin Islands Belonger Card
  • British Passport with place of birth as British Virgin Islands
  • Certificate of Naturalisation as a British Overseas Territory Citizen (BVI).

Applicants must make appropriate and satisfactory arrangements with HLSCC to settle any pre-existing balance owed. Recipients must comply with all standards of conduct outlined in the College catalogue and HLSCC student handbook. Recipients must also maintain academic eligibility for enrolment at HLSCC.
